Corn and Soybean Production – 2022 Summary

چکیده
Soybean and corn varieties were tested in replicated field trials at the Southeast Research Extension Center Parsons through Kansas State University variety testing program. In total, nine three maturity checks tested. Fourteen full season ten double-cropped soybean tested, with checks. Additionally, sorghum sunflower The 2022 summer crop growing was challenging. High temperatures low rainfall reduced production. Crop production severely impacted by hot, dry conditions, both across state cultivar Parsons. No yield results are available for tests from

Seed production in corn and soybean
Seed production is one of the least visible yet most important aspects of food and feed production. This part of the system is often taken for granted, even by the farmers who plant the seed. One of the reasons is that much of the seed in the United States is provided by the private sector, particularly for corn and soybean. Also, seed production is a technical process that requires in-depth kn...
متن کاملLife cycle of the corn-soybean agroecosystem for biobased production.
Biobased product life cycle assessments (LCAs) have focused largely on energy (fossil fuel) usage and greenhouse gas emissions during the agriculture and production stages. This paper compiles a more comprehensive life cycle inventory (LCI) for use in future bioproduct LCAs that rely on corn or soybean crops as feedstocks. The inventory includes energy, C, N, P, major pesticides, and U.S. EPA c...
متن کاملEnergy Issues Affecting Corn/Soybean Systems:Challenges for Sustainable Production
Quantifying energy issues associated with agricultural systems, even for a two-crop corn (Zea mays L.) and soybean (Glycine max [L.] Merr.) rotation, is not a simple task. It becomes even more complicated if the goal is to include all aspects of sustainability (i.e., economic, environmental, and social). This Issue Paper examines energy issues associated with and affecting corn/soybean rotation...
متن کاملEthanol Production Using Corn, Switchgrass, and Wood; Biodiesel Production Using Soybean and Sunflower
Energy outputs from ethanol produced using corn, switchgrass, and wood biomass were each less than the respective fossil energy inputs. The same was true for producing biodiesel using soybeans and sunflower, however, the energy cost for producing soybean biodiesel was only slightly negative compared with ethanol production. Findings in terms of energy outputs compared with the energy inputs wer...
متن کاملImpact of glyphosate-tolerant soybean and glufosinate-tolerant corn production on herbicide losses in surface runoff.
Residual herbicides used in the production of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr] and corn (Zea mays L.) are often detected in surface runoff at concentrations exceeding their maximum contaminant levels (MCL) or health advisory levels (HAL). With the advent of transgenic, glyphosate-tolerant soybean and glufosinate-tolerant corn this concern might be reduced by replacing some of the residual herbic...
